View berth utilization

To view berth utilization, you can run the Berth Utilization report for a time frame you specify, up to the current date. This time frame affects the percentage calculation of the berth occupancy. The report provides information on the berth occupancy rate, occupancy percentage, and a vessel's time alongside the quay and off port, for a vessel service.

The following table describes the fields available in the report.

Component

Description

Vessel Service

The services for the vessels calling during the nominated time frame.

Vessel Length

The length of the vessels calling during the nominated time frame by service.

Vessel Margin

Minimum spacing between ships as per the Berths.txt file, by service.

Hours Alongside

The total time vessels are alongside per service.

Hours Off Port

The difference in time between the arrival off port value and the ETA value as described in the vessel schedule, shown by service.

Berth Occupancy

Berth Occupancy = (vessel length + margin) * visit duration, measured in distance hours. The value displayed in the report shows average Berth Occupancy for each service, that is the sum of all berth occupancies per service divided by the number of vessels on the service.

Berth Length

The total length of the berth as described in the berths.txt file.

Occupancy Percentage

The occupancy percentage = total berth occupancy / total possible berth occupancy (berth length * reporting period)
The percentage the berth was occupied over the specified time period. For example, if occupancy percentage = 88%, then the berth was occupied 88% of the time during the report period.
